Static analysis is a technique for finding bugs without executing code. This presentation will review the technical analysis of the problem millions of lines of code, philosophical problems, answering the question "What is a mistake somewhere?" And psychological problems, explaining the error in a skeptical audience.

Bob Archer has worked at Coverity for the past year. Previously he has worked on image processing, computer games, virtual reality and 3D simulation. He has a particular interest in the problem of writing high quality code in the commercial world.
