By May 1945, Germany had produced nearly 20,000 Fw 190s from various contractors. While most of these aircraft were newly constructed, many were rebuilt from older Fw 190 airframes to later Fw 190 standards. The total number of Fw 190s built and its wide use tributes Kurt Tank's excellent engineering and the Luftwaffe's desire for the design. 190s are considered among the most influential and historically significant WWII aircraft.
