"How to program microcomputers" by Barden
1977 | ISBN: 0672214598 | Pages: 258 | English | PDF | 15 MB
This book covers assembly language programming. After the usual introductory material (What's binary? What's a register?, etc.) The book covers the details of the instruction sets for three popular CPUs of the era (8080, 6800, and 6502). Finally the book covers many typical programming tasks: moving data, floating point, list processing, tables, stacks, strings, etc. and includes sample assembly code for all three CPUs. I found that part very enlightening. With a glance, you can see the differences between the processors in very real-world examples. And you can compare their various strengths and weaknesses. Witness the beginning of the Intel/Motorola (IBM PC / Apple).
