I enjoyed the first book and went straight to the second. I look forward to more books which I will certainly buy. The characters are intriguing and the plots well crafted. The world building is extremely complex and subtly presented; you learn about the world during the course of the story rather than through artificial conversations. The only thing letting it down is the proofreading has left some errors, words missing and some words miss-corrected by spell check to leave an incorrect word. These errors are not many and do not detract from the enjoyment of the story; it's a bit like enjoying a beautifully cooked omelette and finding a bit of eggshell. Its still a good omelette but you really don't enjoy that crunch. Nonetheless this book is well worth reading, but do read the first book in the series before this one to better understand the characters and plot development.
