Almost put the book down twice to quit reading it. There was a lot of head hopping and I felt like two different people were writing it only to discover at the end that two different people wrote the story. I suspect one is a stronger writer than the other. The beginning was very weak and slow. Information was "told" not "shown". In fact as a Kindle owner the first 6% of the book was unnecessary. Passive voice dragged on and on. However toward the end, I loved the characters, adapted to the head hopping and enjoyed the story arc. It was a Disneyesque version of Eragon with influences from the Chronicles of Narnia and the Deathly Hallows. I am purchasing Book 2 and hope the writing gets better because the story was great.
