This author has a way of making you feel what the characters are feeling, no matter what your own opinion of the situation may be. Nola was getting such a bad break at every turn that I was mentally urging her to just take what Scout offered and run with it, but that wouldn't have been in character. I loved her pluck. Scout seemed completely out of his element, wondering what had hit him. I loved how he went from lustful to sweet as he came to care more about the girl than her physical charms. Plenty of spice in due time, so the story was satisfying on every level.
