Jaric brief thesis presents interesting and valuable insights into Medieval
life in the Central Balkans (especially present day Macedonia and Serbia)
during the fourth through seventh centuries made possible by archaeological
evidence. She argues that clashes between various "barbarian" groups and
the Byzantines resulted in renewals rather than destruction of culture and
community. Numerous maps improve her presentation.
