In the Preface, Gan Fuxi explains that the .The Silk Road. refers to a group
of cultural, political and technological exchange routes that linked the East
and the West in serval significant ways. This book is a compilation of papers
first presented, and some since published, at two international glass
symposiums in 2004 and 2005. While some of the 24 papers are very technical
(chemical composition analysis), all provided valuable information on ancient
glass commodities whether for personal adornment (beads) or household use (cups,
vases).
