The concept of this book is a good one: quick, measured debate on 20 defined assertions. It was a quick read, enjoyed over a couple of cups of coffee as the authors suggested. The topics they chose to debate were great, but I found both of their arguments weak at times. I've read far more compelling cases for and against belief in a god. But the authors wrote in good humored tones, were civil, and made some solid points. As an atheist I found John Loftus the more convincing of the two, although I suspect a believer would reach a different conclusion. That is the thing with debates. Do they ever change anyone's mind, or do they just reinforce the positions of the audience?
