DESkey hardware provides the most secure, reliable and flexible means to
protect your software against piracy. Designed and manufactured in the
UK by Data Encryption Systems Ltd, the security offered by a DESkey is
unmatched by any other dongle.
DESkeys have a major advantage over many alternatives in that all the
security actually resides inside the hardware of the DESkey itself and
not in the software drivers.
Data Encryption Systems Limited offer a first rate technical support
service who will be pleased to help you, at all technical levels, with
any problems or difficulties that you might encounter.
About DESkeys
All DESkeys are designed by Data Encryption Systems Limited and most of
them incorporate an ASIC developed entirely in house. Any device that
is made solely from commercially available components is secured by the
removal of all external chip identification and sealed in epoxy resin.
All these techniques combined with customer specific coding make it
virtually impossible to duplicate or emulate any DESkey.
DESlock, our proprietary software product, is designed to work with
DESkey hardware to protect your application with the minimum of effort.
More than simple 'envelope' protection, DESlock actually encrypts .EXE,
.DLL and API calls using the hardware features of the DESkey.
DESkeys are supported across multiple platforms and are available in the
following designs:
- Parallel port
- Serial port
- ISA bus
- Apple Mac ADB
- PCMCIA
- CompactFlash Card
Where applicable, DESkeys have been designed to be transparent to
other port activity.
All DESkeys incorporate hardware pseudo-random number generators as part
of their functionality. Random numbers can be used in a variety of ways
to encrypt and decrypt data. Each device is 'seeded' with codes, known
only to Data Encryption Systems Limited, ensuring that the random
numbers generated will be unique for every customer.
In addition, the range includes intelligent devices with memory.
This increases the level of security, since it enables information to be
stored in the hardware, making it inaccessible to unlicensed users.
It also permits the selective protection and licensing of multi-modular
software, as well as providing a means to impose time restrictions to
your software.
An advanced feature of these DESkeys provides the facility to remotely
update the memory contents, without breaching the security.
The DESkey range also includes a system for multi-user access and
licence control across a network environment
