Voyages Extraordinaires series book 06
Narrator Jim Killavey
Professor Aronnax, his faithful servant, Conseil, and the Canadian harpooner,
Ned Land, begin an extremely hazardous voyage to rid the seas of a little-
known and terrifying sea monster. However, the "monster" turns out to be a
giant submarine, commanded by Captain Nemo.
Jules Gabriel Verne was a French author who pioneered the science-fiction
genre and is best known for his books Journey to the Center of the Earth
and Around the World in Eighty Days. Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea
is a classic in which Verne prophesized many modern uses of the submarine.
The story concerns the now famous fictional character Captain Nemo and his
submarine, Nautilus, as seen by one of his passengers, Professor Pierre
Aronnax. Over the years there have been many film, TV, and theatrical
adaptations and variations of the book.
