Student meridian - publicistic, popular scientific and literary and artistic youth magazine, formed in 1924 under the name "Red Youth" (1924-1925). Before the Great Patriotic War, the name changed twice ("Red Students", 1925-1935, "Soviet Students", 1936-1967).
From 1967 to 1973 the magazine appeared in the form of an annual almanac, since 1974 it has been published monthly.
The magazine "Red Youth", the first all-Union organ of the Central Committee of the Komsomol, intended for students, began to appear in Moscow in the spring of 1924 under the leadership of VM Molotov. The edition was recommended to look for "its own unique face" and not to reprint materials from other newspapers and magazines. The articles on higher education occupied the fifth part of the number, the rest of the space was assigned to party reports and advice to the propagandist-agitator. Among the permanent headings were - "Advanced" and "Defense Department."
