Here is the dramatic story of the making of Heaven's Gate, from the inside. Steven Bach was an executive at United Artists at the time and was often the point man dealing with the film's production. At one point, he approached a prominent director to take over the film, unnamed in the book, but now known to be Norman Jewison. Bach has dealings also with Woody Allen and a few other filmmakers working on films at the same time. After the collapse of UA, the late Bach wrote this book, then bios of difficult women such as Dietrich and Riefenstahl.
