The Book of Proverbs is a book of Holy Scripture of the OLd Testament. Karaim ancients, in particular, liked to read it and kept it close at hand while teaching the young in matters of belief and morality: the fear of God, truth, scruples, amity and respect.
Printed here are variations of the text of the Book of Proverbs in the native language of Lithuanian Karaims (Trakai dialect).

Lithuanian Karaims, one of the Turkic nations, which have been living in Lithuania for the past 600 years, acknowledge the Old Testament of the Holy Scripture (without latter day additions). Their religion is usually referred to as Karaism. From ancient times in their liturgy they have widely used their native Karaim language (Trakai dialect), which belongs to the Western Kipchak group of the family of Turkic languages. Karaim always was and continues to be a language of everyday interaction, ceremonies, folklore, and liturgy.

Existing manuscripts remain the most important historical monuments of the Karaim language, i.e., the translations of the Old Testament from the ancient Hebrew into the Karaim, the liturgical prose and poetry and their translations by Karaim scholars, works of folklore, secular poetry and prose.

The Book of Proverbs is a book of Holy Scripture of the Old Testament. Karaim ancients, in particular, liked to read it and kept it close at hand while teaching the young in matters of belief and morality: the fear of God, truth, scruples, amity and respect. Everlasting holy truths layed out in the Old Testament have not lost their meaning until today. Therefore, having in mind the Lithuanian Karaims, I adhered to the text of the Book of Proverbs using the Latin script.
