Doug Swenson , the elder brother and the first yoga teacher leading Ashtanga teacher David Swenson , teaches his own style. Goes first spectacular screensaver practice on the rocks in the reserve on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Dag was introduced to yoga parents who took him to hear a lecture of Dr. Ernest Wood, who spent 50 years in India and has written three books on the subject . " I had little experiences that here and there , and I almost learned that " Doug said . He , in turn, introduced him to yoga brother David .
David finally embarked on ashtanga , and became the first American to fully completed all levels of Ashtanga . " Ashtanga is better suited to his character ," said Doug .
Tourist and surfer Doug first studied at Self-Realization Fellowship in Southern California. Later, he and his brother learned ashtanga David Williams and Nancy Gligof , as well as in Sri K. Pattabhi Jois . He also believes Ramananda Patel , Anne Berros and brother David as one of their teachers.
He prefers to combine the inherent ashtanga " poetic flow " yoga with softer " soothing touch " that form of yoga , which he created himself , after years of experimentation. "I do Ashtanga but I felt that my character is prone to soft yoga ," he said. " But I also like ashtanga . So I decided to keep both and mix them together ."
Doug says it is important to know when suspended from only one practice , and advises to combine the regular practice of yoga with other forms of exercise. He learned by experience : he practiced four and a half hours a day, every day , for five years . "I thought that anything else will distract me or interrupts my yoga. I felt guilty if I did not do it every day. I was very flexible. But I thought that it would enhance my opinion, but it turned out that I was limited " .
"We know that in most cases we feel good after yoga . But you can have a lot of good things , and be irritable and tense. This is part of the eight steps ( Patanjali Yoga ) - to have a balance in my life ."
Doug has written three books : " Yoga helps ," " Yoga: The absolute gift for the body , mind and soul ," and " pacifying touch of yoga ." Also he is working on two more : " Yoga: Brilliant way in time " and " Diet , who loves you most." Today he spends much time teaching and arranging retreats at Lake Tahoe , and traveling throughout the country , giving seminars .
Unlike their teachers , Doug Swenson says yoga outdoors in more inspired his practice. His favorite sequence includes standing poses of the first level , the overlapping in some poses and then sitting soft yoga. " Practice is the nature of a holistic experience . Yoga is a form descended from nature."
