Vivinet Assessor
NetIQs Vivinet Assessor helps you determine quickly and easily how
well Voice over IP (VoIP) will work on a network prior to deployment.
Before you invest in costly training and pilot deployments, Vivinet
Assessor predicts the overall call quality you can expect from the
network and generates customizable reports detailing the networks VoIP
readiness.
Key Benefits
.Determines if your network can handle VoIP. Evaluates and reports
s ability to support VoIPs unique network
requirements. Understanding potential problems before they become
evident is an essential factor in a successful implementation.
Vivinet Assessor enables you to make knowledgeable choices about
how to proceed with your VoIP investment and deployment.
.Predicts call quality. Collects network metrics over time to
provide you with an accurate prediction of the overall call quality
that can be expected once VoIP is deployed.
.Builds a network inventory. Saves time by automatically taking an
inventory of routers, switches and WAN links to be evaluated by
Vivinet Assessor.
.Highlights limitations of current network devices. Provides
insights into potential needs for additional or upgraded devices
before VoIP deployment by monitoring utilization statistics of
current network devices and links.
.Improves planning with predictive modeling. Increases deployment
success through what if analysis. Upfront modeling can help you
narrow down the scenarios that you want to emulate on a live network.
.Provides polished, yet customizable, assessment reports. Analyzes
results and creates a polished report at the end of the assessment.
The easy-to-customize report provides a straightforward executive
s readiness for VoIP, along with
detailed results by location for further analysis.
New Features in 3.0
.Drill down into assessment data and generate detailed charts. With
the new Vivinet Assessor Analysis Console, you can analyze the data
in the assessment database. You can easily generate customized charts
and graphs to identify trends and anomalies in performance metrics
that might otherwise be difficult to detect.
.Support additional devices. Vivinet Assessor can now discover and
monitor devices manufactured by Alcatel, as well as devices from
other vendors like Cisco Systems, Extreme Networks and Nortel Networks.
.Run a quick check of voice quality and see results in minutes.
Assessment scheduling options now include the ability to run a single
set of simulated calls and check the results. With this single data
sample, you can gauge VoIP quality under a particular set of conditions
or immediately determine if a configuration change has improved the
mean opinion score (MOS).
.Add background network traffic to VoIP quality assessments. You can
now create background traffic to simulate TCP network traffic and
run assessments with lighter and heavier traffic loads. This ability
lets you identify how various traffic loads affect the MOS and also
how other business-critical applications are likely to perform
alongside VoIP calls.
.Vary the start times of simulated calls. Call scripts now offer an
additional initial delay parameter to help you more realistically
emulate call traffic on a VoIP network. This parameter creates
variations in call start times so that results reflect a more likely
call-performance scenario. Initial delay values may also be configured
for background traffic.
.Verify the endpoints before starting the VoIP quality assessment.
Vivinet Assessor can now verify installed endpoints before you
attempt a VoIP Quality assessment, ensuring that you avoid unnecessary
error messages and skewed results because an endpoint computer is
powered off or the endpoint software is not installed
