The first editions of Navy Today were published in the early 1960s to provide a snap-shot of the contemporary RAN Fleet and a brief commentary on operations in which the RAN was involved. The booklets were distributed by Navy Public Relations and through Navy Recruiting centres around Australia and were produced in various formats until the mid 1990s at which time web-based technology took over.
