We believe in the power of nonprofits to transform our society. And we believe in the power of well-crafted communications to transform nonprofits. Effective communications can target the right messages to the right audiences at the right times. And an investment in appropriate, well-planned communications can increase rather than detract from the bottom line when resources and staffing are tight. In our consulting practice, we routinely field calls from nonprofits on questions about communications that are as varied as the organizations themselves. What they have in common, though, is he need to find the most effective ways of raising awareness and raising funds. We found many books, workshops and tapes available on individual aspects of nonprofit communications, but no single source that covered a broad spectrum of nonprofit communications needs. We also found no current research that speaks to what tools nonprofit communicators need or want.
