This book was recommended to me by a friend who found out how much I loved the Hunger Games book series. Reading this book made me appreciate the country I live in and made me realize how much better living in freedom really is. In "Meritropolis", nobody living in the city was able to make their own decisions and their lives had already been planned out for them. It was already decided for them when and how they would die and what they would do with their lives. Joel was an amazing character who wanted to go against the system after losing his brother due to his rank in society. This book held my interest from the very first page and I was wanting to read more by the time I finished the book. I can't wait for the second book, if there is one. It was like a mixture of "Hunger Games" and "Unwind" for me, just because the book "Unwind" had a similar situation in which children's lives were already planned out for them. Great read, I love books like these.
