StarDict is a free shell for electronic dictionaries, open source, capable, besides the actual output of articles, to transfer, to sound out words, use of fuzzy queries and templates, search online dictionaries. Developed in C++, using a graphical GTK 2 and UTF-8 encoding.
- Pattern matching. You can enter words that contain "*" and "?" as wildcards.
- Fuzzy query. You can use the "fuzzy query". He uses the Levenshtein algorithm to compute the similarity of two words, and gives the words which best suit the entered request. To use this functionality, the query must begin with "/".
- Full text search is designed to search for words and phrases (spaces must be escaped by a "\"character) in the dictionary without using the index. Slower search, but allows you to search for matches in the texts of the articles.
Scan selected. When you select a word and, depending on the settings, when you press a key the translation is displayed in a popup window.
- Manage dictionaries. Disable unnecessary dictionaries, and set the order of their use in the query.
