Fun with Flash Media Server is a recording of the live presentation given by
Lisa Larson at the Flashforward 2007 conference in Boston. Please note that
since this presentation was recorded live, the audio and video quality may
vary from our regular course offerings.
Session Description: In this session, Lisa Larson will help developers of all
levels gain an understanding of the powerful tools for working with video,
audio, and data offered by Flash Media Server (FMS). Now that the developer
license is free, FMS is an even more attractive solution for small-scale
commercial applications. Lisa will walk through how FMS works, and show you
how to set up a development environment. She'll also dive into the server-
and client-side communication classes, and discuss alternative RTMP servers.
Lisa will demystify FMS--exploring its basic structure, what it can and can't
do, and why you'd want to use it in your applications. Of course, you can always
just use FMS for streaming video...but your head will likely be filled with ideas
for much richer applications by the end of this session.
