You.ll discover the Dependency Graph (DG), commands, tools, and translators
within the context of the Maya Application Programmer Interface (API).
The core focus, however, will be DG, the underlying Maya architecture.
Achieving a firm grasp of what the DG is and how it can best be used is
vital to all Maya API programmers. This DVD will begin with an abstract
description of the dependency graph.s components and its operation,
and continue with the particulars of the API C++ classes used to work
with the dependency graph.

Author Biography
Barbara Balents is a Principal Engineer at Autodesk, and has two patents in
the area of surface deformation. Barbara has worked on Maya for 10 years,
specializing in the areas of animation, IK, skinning, and deformation.
While working on Maya 1.0, Barbara became an expert on the Maya dependency
graph and developed an internal course used to teach Maya programmers
about how to work with the DG. Prior to working on Maya, Barbara worked
on the Alias|Wavefront Kinemation product. Before that, Barbara got a robot
to catch balls while working on her bachelor's and master's degrees at MIT's
Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
