Whatever happened to Keith Floyd? It's a question that
crops up now and then in discussions of celebrity chefs
because when it comes to food on TV, Floyd wrote the
book. Sure, the likes of Fannie Cradock and Delia Smith
had done dainty recipes in studios before him, but
starting in the early 1980s, Floyd did something
different. Instead of bringing great food to us, he
took us out to it, touring the world and often
concocting his dishes on a makeshift kitchen in the
middle of a field, while gulping from a glass of wine
and barking at the cameraman. Since he vanished from
our screens, we've missed his panama hats and leathery
vowels - and so, it seems, has Keith Allen.
Shortly after this aired it was announced Keith Floyd
had died.
