Real Madrid travel to France to face Marseille needing just a point to secure
a place in the knockout stages.
The Spanish giants are two points ahead of second-placed AC Milan at the top
of Group C and three in front of Marseille, who they beat 3-0 in the first
meeting in El Santiago Bernabeu.
Marseille are currently third in Group C and they need a win to have any chance
of reaching the last 16.
The French side would need to win by a larger margin than 3-0 to be sure of
a place in the next phase, but could still qualify with any type of win if Milan
fail to beat FZ Zurich.
Real make the trip to Stade Velodrome without Brazilian playmaker Kaka as he is
still struggling with a groin problem.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, Guti and Christoph Metzelder are also missing for Manuel
Pellegrini's men through injury.
Marseille are sweating over the fitness of key midfielder Stephane Mbia as he
struggles to shake off an ankle injury.
Didier Deschamps is unable to call upon midfielder Cyril Rool and Julien
Rodriguez because of injury.
