BricsCad V5, powered by IntelliCAD, is the successor
of BricsCad IntelliCAD 4. Compared to BricsCad
IntelliCAD 4.0, BricsCad V5 contains many importan
new features and enhancements:

printing/plotting environment in BricsCad V5 has been
extended drastically, offering now the equivalent of
what is available in AutoCAD..
The overall performance of BricsCad V5 has been
improved thoroughly.
More than 200 fixes have been applied over the last
year.

AutoCAD command line
Most CAD professionals spend years mastering AutoCAD
commands until they're second nature. Since these
commands help create the majority of CAD work,
BricsCad transparently maps them to BricsCad
equivalent commands.
AutoCAD DWG support
BricsCad allows users to read, write and display DWG
files from Version 2.5 right through AutoCAD 2002 -
without conversion. And since drawings are natively
created in DWG, they can be shared between BricsCad
and AutoCAD without losing mission-critical
information. BricsCad has an added safety bonus- i
encounters information it cannot work with, it
preserves the data unharmed.
AutoLISP and ADS
BricsCad preserves the investment users have made in
developing AutoLISP routines to automate and enhance
functionality in AutoCAD. This is an important
feature, since thousands of these routines exist i
corporate AutoLISP libraries or in public domains as
shareware. BricsCad runs most AutoLISP routines
directly, and existing ADS (AutoCAD Development
Systems) routines, including DCL, can be run after a
recompile.
Menu's, fonts and symbols
It's no problem to transfer custom AutoCAD
environments into BricsCad, because it works
seamlessly with symbol libraries, fonts (SHX), scripts
(SCR), menus (MNU), and dialog box (DCL) files (which
are typically part of ADS programs or AutoLISP
routines).
Edit multiple drawings
BricsCad allows users to open multiple documents a
once (MDI). This powerful feature enables CAD
professionals to review two or more drawings within
one session, copy objects from one drawing to another,
load and edit xrefs and copy and paste elements,
blocks, and more from one drawing to another.
Scripting
Similar to macros found in Microsoft Office progra
BricsCad records and automates commonly repeated
tasks. For example, a script can capture command
names, options and coordinates used in a given task,
saving valuable design time. BricsCad also reads and
writes SCR (script) files created in AutoCAD.
Visual Basic (BricsCad Pro)
BricsCad not only supports standard forms of
customization like AutoLISP and ADS, it offers the
power of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications
(VBA). VBA is an object-based programming environment
that uses the COM interface, which allows users to
develop custom solutions. VBA is a component of
Microsoft Office applications like Excel, Word and
PowerPoint.
Raster support (*)
BricsCad's advanced raster image support makes it easy
to load, manage and manipulate scanned maps, photos,
drawings and documents. Designs can also incorporate
scanned documents such as aerial photographs,
satellite imagery, design drawings or property maps
within a drawing environment. BricsCad also includes a
set of raster image editing and manipulation tools
color, grayscale and monochrome images.
Rendering (*)
BricsCad fully supports 3D surface commands that help
you produce high-quality 3D models, almost without
effort. Display them as wireframes, with hidden lines
removed or with surface shading. Choose from preset
lighting effects, surface materials and background
Assign materials via a layer lookup table. BricsCad
has licensed the LightWork Design 3D engine to provide
powerful, professional tools that make it all possible.
