"Krasnaya Niva" is a Soviet literary and artistic illustrated fine magazine, an appendix to the newspaper Izvestia. Created on the model of the pre-revolutionary "Niva". Was published in 1923-1931.
In 1923, the editorial staff included Yu. M. Steklov (until 1926) and AV Lunacharsky (until 1930), and in 1924 IM Kasatkin was added (until 1926). In 1925, the editorial staff was enlarged, including VN Lazarev (until 1926), NS Ashukin (until 1929), Ya. A. Tugendhold (until 1928), II Skvortsov-Stepanov (until 1928 ). Later in the editorial staff were at different times Vyach. Polonsky (1926-1930), SB Ingulov, AG Malyshkin, MA Saveliev, VI Solovyov, IM Gronsky, V. Osinsky, V. Ye. Varzar, M. Charny , K. S. Eremeev (1929-1931).
In the magazine were published "The Shining World" by A. Greene, "The Inventors of the Iditol" by S. Bobrov, "The Notes of D'Arshiak" by L. Grossman, excerpts from Leonov's novels "Sot", A. Veselogo "Gulyai, Volga", short stories B. Pilnyak, M. Prishvin, Vyach. Shishkova, Sun. Ivanova, I. Sokolova-Mikitova, N. Zarudin, A. Platonov, verses by A. Shiryaevets, P. Oreshin, S. Yesenin, P. Radimov. Basically it was the authors of the "Pass" or "new peasant" direction. As an illustrator with the magazine, A. V. Kaplun collaborated.
In 1930-1931, the journal had difficulties due to a lack of paper and intensive struggle with the RAAP "full-time". Since 1930, the magazine began to appear three times a month, and in December 1931 it was closed.
