Joy Division changed the face of the music. Sound of music. The meaning of music. As godfathers of the modern alternative scene, they invented a new rock in the post-punk era, developing a new sound - sombre, hypnotic, intense - which later will have an impact on U2, Morrissey, R.E.M., Radiohead and many others. The group's image, once destructive and alienated, has become an internationally known "image", well documented by photographers Anton Corbijn, Kevin Cummins and artist-designer Peter Saville. Inspired by the approach, energy and sound of punk, in particular the Sex Pistols, Peter Hook and his old school friend Bernard Sumner founded a band that continues to influence popular music 35 years later, teaming up with the talented vocalist and poet Jen Curtis and the wonderful drummer Stephen Morris. Gathering up the tools and taking a broken old van, the four young guys from Manchester and Salford shared the same views and created their own unique sound in pubs and clubs first in the northwest, then throughout Britain until in 1980 they released two albums And were already preparing to go on a tour of America. Then Ian Curtis committed suicide, leaving the people around him out of work. Known for his energetic bass melodies 'Love Will Tear Us Apart', Hookey was at the heart of the sound that was destined to define the sound of the era and inspire an entire generation. In his frank, boundless style, thanks to which the previous book "Hacienda: How Can not Manage the Club" became one of the best music books of 2009, Peter "Hookie" Hook tells us the story of the behind-the-scenes life of Joy Division. He speaks with instructive impartiality and reasoning about the suicide of Ian Curtis: often considered an "intellectual", for Peter and the group he was simply "one of his own" and the burden of his epilepsy and the hardships of family life only increased when it was too late. It affects friendships and quarrels in the group; Rehearsals and recording sessions; As well as incredible personalities that formed a significant part of the legend of Joy Division: Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton, Martin Hannetta and others.
