A philosopher (if he really is a philosopher) can not chase fashion, fashion is for fools. A philosopher (if he really is a philosopher) should not be so cowardly as to necessarily follow the mainstream. The old revolutionary theory has not died. Even within the framework of the existing Marxism, all the recent events (including the collapse of the USSR) and the events that are happening now are elementary explained. If someone can not do this, then he either lacks Marxist knowledge, or lacks the mind for the correct use of this knowledge. Now in schools and universities they suggest that Marxism is stupidity, that Marxism was defeated, since there is no USSR. But this inspired and inspired by the ideological whores of the ruling class, which only work out the ration. They have nothing else to say and should not. But to believe them is true foolishness, a testimony to the inability to think independently.
Karl Marx (May 5, 1818, Trier-March 14, 1883, London) is an ingenious German thinker who divided the world into those who read it and those who did not read it. The philosopher is mind, not language, the brightest economist and sociologist. He created the basis of revolutionary analysis, as well as the first coherent and less sane social theory in the history of this planet.
Alex Theodore Callinicos (born July 24, 1950, Southern Rhodesia) is a British Trotskyist, a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Workers Party, the British section of the International Socialist Trends.
Callinicos received his Bachelor of Arts degree and in 1979 defended his thesis at Oxford. He held the post of professor of political science at the University of York, until he was transferred in 2005 to the position of professor of European studies at King's College (London). He is a member of the editorial board of the journal International Socialism and is a British correspondent for the journal Actuel Marx. Actively wrote in the revolutionary and academic press.
During the Second World War, his father was an activist of the Greek resistance to the Nazi occupation. Mother belonged to the British aristocratic family of Dahlberg-Acton. In 1977, Alex Callinicos married Joanna Saddon, who completed her doctorate in Oxford.
Callinicos was first involved in the revolutionary movement during his studies at the College of "Balliol" (Oxford University). Then he began to write for the editions of the British organization "International Socialists" (the predecessor of the PSA) as an analyst of the student movement. Soon, in the left and academic circles, he is recognized as an expert in South Africa and the work of the French philosopher Louis Althusser. A brilliant publicist and speaker, in the early 1980s Callinicos was elected to the Central Committee of the Socialist Workers' Party. In the recent past, he was responsible for the international work of the PSA.
Callinicos in September 2000 participated in a counter-summit in Prague, at which time the IMF and World Bank summit was held, and in June 2001 - in a demonstration against the G8 in Genoa. He also participates in the organization of Social Forums in Europe.
Helps Jacques Bidet and Eustace Kuvelakis in the work on the Modern Marxist Dictionary (Dictionnaire Marx Contemporain), is the author of a number of articles for the "New Left Review".
In the satirical novel Tariq Ali "Redemption" (1990) Callinicos appears in the image of the prolific intellectual of "Alex Mango".

Karl Marx is one of the handful of people who have fundamentally changed the way people see the world. His ideas have always been controversial, misunderstood, attacked and even dismissed. The Revolutionary Ideas of Karl Marx rescues the revolutionary tradition of Marx and demonstrates conclusively the relevance of his ideas today for everyone who wants an end to poverty, economic crisis and war and to see humanity progress. Now back in print in a handy, pocket-sized edition, Alex Callinicos's classic text is a vital reference for any student of Marxism.
