The famous work (left unfinished) of the most famous ancient Greek historian Herodotus in Russian editions is conditionally called "History". In foreign publications, he has different names: "The Muse of Herodotus", "The Histories of Herodotus", "Herodotus" and finally "Persian Wars" in our case. This happened, since in the manuscripts containing the work of Herodotus there is no title relating to the entire composition. There are only the names of 9 books, according to the number of Muses, to which the work of Herodotus was later divided by scholars in Alexandria, who called the books "Muses."
