The "Roman history" of Appian of Alexandria is deservedly considered one of the best sources on the history of Ancient Rome. Of particular value to historians are 5 books of the "Civil Wars", since they are the only comprehensive communication story that has come down to us from the activities of the Gracchus brothers to the initial stage of the civil war after the assassination of Julius Caesar, namely to 37 BC. In particular, Appian's description of the activities of the Gracchi and subsequent events - in itself the only consistent account of the events of this period - had a significant impact on historians. No less informative is the description of the Mithridates wars.
