The Economist is an influential weekly English-language magazine. Published in the United Kingdom since 1843. The magazine is owned by the company of the same name, based in London. In 2006, the circulation exceeded one million copies, more than half of which were sold in North America. Due to its global orientation, The Economist is not considered an exclusively English publication.
