Zbigniew Golab (1923-1994) is a professor at the University of Chicago. The scientific legacy of Zbigniew Golomb is 4 monographs and about 100 articles, focusing on several thematic groups. He started from the questions of polonistics, but he received worldwide recognition for works on balkanistics (questions of the Macedonian language and the Aramaic language, to which he attributed an important role in the spread of Balkanisms). Later works dealt with general linguistic subjects, especially from the field of typology. Finally, a huge number of publications present the results of research on the ethnogenesis of the Slavs and etymology. Long-term work on linguistic, geographical and historical facts brought fruit in the form of synthesis, the fruit of which was the writing of this book, localizing the ancestral home of the Slavs to the west of the middle reaches of the Dnieper (Right-Bank and Western Ukraine)
