This work is devoted to clarifying the genetic connections of modern European peoples with the ancients, in particular, with the Scythians (Scythians).
Mitochondrial DNA is transmitted only through a direct female line (from mother to daughter) and is generally of little informative to compare closely related populations, but can be used to compare populations that are far apart.
p. 201 - a map illustrating the distribution of western and eastern (Mongoloid DNA) in Eurasia. The oldest population of Central Asia up to the Altai was Caucasoid, then gradually spread from the east of the Mongoloid.
