Deltares has launched Wanda 4.5.4 is a powerful and user-friendly program for the hydraulic design, control and optimization of pipeline systems. Design engineers and operators use WANDA to assess the steady state characteristics of the system and the dynamic and multi-phase (transient) behaviour of different media transported through their often complex, pipeline networks.

About Deltares Wanda. Wanda is an advanced, interactive software package to support the hydraulic design process of your pipeline system. The program is used for the hydraulic analysis of steady and unsteady flow conditions in arbitrary configured pipeline networks. Primary subjects to evaluate and optimise a hydraulic design are flow capacity, velocity, flow distribution, dynamic behaviour, economy, safety and control principles. With a hydraulic design, you can direct the mechanical and process engineering to an effective and efficient system.
Wanda can be applied to a variety of types of pipeline systems, like fire fighting systems, sewer systems, water distribution networks, industrial plants, oil pipelines, water cooling systems, hydropower plants and transportation systems for chemical products.
How to use Wanda. Wanda is a software tool that we use at Fluid Mechanics to do surge or Water Hammer analysis. In the video we demonstrate how to set up a basic model of two tanks connected by a long pipeline. We then show what happens if a valve in the pipeline is closed and how it induces surge pressures as the flow between the two tanks is stopped.
