Mineral Surface Reactions at the Nanoscale by Christine V. Putnis
English | PDF | 2019 | 220 Pages | ISBN : 3038978965 | 72.07 MB
Christine V. Putnis is a research scientist in the Institut für Mineralogie at the University of Münster, Germany, where she has worked for the past 23 years. Previously, she worked as a research associate in the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge, UK. Christine’s research interests involve the investigation of reactions at mineral–fluid interfaces at the nanoscale, predominately using in situ atomic force microscopy (AFM). Reactions at mineral surfaces commonly involve the coupling between dissolution and precipitation, and observations that confirm this mechanism of mineral behavior have enabled a further understanding of how processes such as weathering, toxic element sequestration, and mineral replacement reactions can be achieved. Christine has published widely on this topic. Christine also holds an adjunct professor position in the Department of Chemistry, Curtin University, Perth, Australia, where she has continued nanoscale research for several months each year for the past 5 years.
