Altair Embed 2019.1 Build 53 | 625.3 mb
The Altair product team is pleased to announce the availability of Embed 2019.1, is a visual environment for model-based development of embedded systems. Its highly efficient diagram-to-code capability shortens the development time and increases product quality.

Release Notes - Altair Embed 2019.1 Highlights
- New Basic and Professional Editions of Altair Embed expand the availability of model-based development to the publicand offer specialized capabilities for commercialuse
- New units-basedlicensing
- Web-based help
- Hardware support extended to include STMicroelectronics STM32F302, STM32F303, and STM32F334 devices
- Hardware-in-the-Loop simulation to validate controllers running on Arduino Leonardo, Mega 2560, and Uno boards

New Edition of Altair Embed
Embed Basic is a special edition of Altair Embed that is available to anyone but is especially well-suited for students and hobbyists interested in a no-cost solution for programming Arduino hardware. It includes many of the features and capabilities of Embed Professional but limits the target support to the Arduino Leonardo, Mega2560, and Uno boards.

General Features and Enhancements:
Web-based help - Pressing the F1 key or the HELP button in block and command dialog boxes opens web-based Help.
Short-cut command keys - CTRL+ and CTRL-add and remove connector tabs on blocks.
Code Generation Features and Enhancements:
Arduino HIL - HIL simulation to validate control algorithms running on Arduino boards
STMicroelectronics target support - Embed expands its target support to include the STM32F302R8 and STM32F303RE devices.
Custom Linker command file - In the F28x Config dialog box, you can specify your own link command file.
Interrupt preemption - Enable Preemption in Main Diagramin the Code Gen dialog boxand Allow Interrupt Handler Preemptionin the compound block dialog box allows you to preempt interrupts for higher priority interrupts
Simulation IssuesResolved in Embed:
CAN Receive block – changing settings causes crash.
Dialog boxes – some text is cropped when system language is Chinese.
Drag-and-drop toolbar does not work properly
File > Open errors when embed block is present parallel to a statechart submachine.
Installation – addon installers created in wrong shortcut groups.
Italics font used for blocks when opening diagrams
Licensing –configure proxy dialog shows Password field
OpenVision > Bounding Box - cannot connect Points output to Point input on Rectangle block.
OpenVision > Convex Hull - input and output tabs cannot be wired
OpenVision > Ellipse block - dialog buttons not aligned.
OpenVision > Perspective Transform does not work properly.
OpenVision > Text block does not write text string on image properly.
Sample diagrams - 3D animation examples – planets.vsm and orbitingTeapot are the same.
Sigma Delta Filter block – does not invoke Help.
State charts – displays graphical schmutz.
Code GenerationIssues Resolved in Embed:
Arduino target – bad string const encountered when opening diagram
Arduino target – code generation error for scaledInt compound edges
Arduino target – Enable COFF INO option
Arduino target – Help for PWM incorrectly indicates input accepts 1.16 rather than 8.16
Arduino target – licensing issue when opening diagram in Embed Basic
Arduino target – PWM prescalar issue
Arduino target – serial write loses the radix point if sending numbers <=1,000
Arduino target – support Arduino IDE 1.8.8
ARM-Linux target – second SPIchannel broken
CAN receive message (16.32) is not initialized as type long in the code
Code generation – code not generated when compound block not selected
Code generation – generated code for flash yields compiler error
Const block – generates code using wrong value
Corrupted saved diagrams
DAC block – ramp input issue
Default target does not change properly for diagrams
DMA Config dialog box – Help button points to wrong location in Help file
Embed crashes when running a model in batch mode with Compose
F28027 and F28035 targets – diagrams fail to compile
F28069 ADC Config dialog box – displays incorrect product name
F281X targets – compilation fails
GPIO Mux Config block – dialog box does not invoke Help
Installation – C Code add-on improperly installed
MSP430 target – cannot compile blinkG2553 with cssv8
PulseTrain block – not working properly
PWM block – PWM timer usage warning/code gen issue
Sample diagrams - Arduino - compiling AdafruitOLED-Uno.vsm raises an error
Sample diagrams – otis_elevator_fixed_point.vsm erroneously shows overflow
Serial UART – hangs after clickingignore to COM channel open failure
Spectrum Digital XDS510 – unable to download
Use of VisSim product name in dialog box
User contributions – remove Chochieh examples; they are dependent on C2407X.dll
solidThinking Embed – formerly known as VisSim Embedded – is a visual environment for model based development of embedded systems. Its highly efficient diagram-to-code capability shortens the development time and increases product quality.

With solidThinking Embed, you can quickly develop virtual prototypes of any dynamic system. Models are built by simply sliding blocks into the work area and wiring them together with the mouse.

Embed automatically converts the control diagrams into C-code ready to be downloaded to the target hardware. The generated C-code is recognized for its efficiency with respect to memory requirements and runtime.

NOTE: solidThinking Embed was renamed Altair Embedfor the 2019 release. The release of Altair Embed 2019 directly follows solidThinking Embed 2017.2.

This video includes a short introduction to solidThinking Embed (sTE) block diagram programming followed by a series of experiments illustrating features of automatic code generation, hardware in the loop simulation, and high speed data transfer. All experiments use the Texas Instruments F28069M Launchpad experimenter board.

Founded in 1985, Altair is focused on the development and application of simulation technology to synthesize and optimize designs, processes and decisions for improved business performance. Privately held with more than 2,600 employees, Altair is headquartered in Troy, Michigan, USA with more than 45 offices throughout 20 countries, and serves more than 5,000 corporate clients across broad industry segments.
