Forensic psychiatrist Frank Clevenger is approached by the FBI to help catch an elusive
serial killer. Called The Highway Killer, the murderer has left a trial of twelve bodies
in twelve states with no obvious link. Now he writes an open letter to The New York Times
challenging Clevenger to catch him. Soon Clevenger must match wits with a killer who
knows all the tricks. As Clevenger embarks on a bizarre kind of public therapy, he must
expose his own past and risk pushing the killer to murder new victims. And with each new
letter, the stakes are raised higher and higher until the stunning and deadly conclusion
