FunctionBay RecurDyn 2023 (BN10106) | 6.7 Gb
The software developer FunctionBay is pleased to announce the availability of RecurDyn 2023 (BN10106) is an interdisciplinary, computer-aided engineering (CAE) software package whose primary function is the simulation of Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD).

RecurDyn 2023 release notes - Date: November 2022 Geo Surface Contact

Enhancements
-The Geo Surface Contact algorithm has many improvements that increase contact performance, including support for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP).
- Simulation time can be reduced by up to 40% to 50% for models that heavily use Geo Surface Contacts.

× FunctionBay RecurDyn 2023 (BN10106) Close
- The improved contact algorithm is applied without any model modifications.
- Since contact is usually used, the overall analysis speed of most RecurDyn models is improved.
- The computational speed is improved for both flexible bodies (FFlex and RFlex) and rigid bodies.

Especially effective in the following cases
- Bodies are in continuous contact.
- A model includes many contacts.
- For FFlex contact, the contact calculation is larger than the FFlex calculation.

Static Solver and FFlex Static

× FunctionBay RecurDyn 2023 (BN10106) Close
Enhancements
- A new N-R (Newton-Rasphon) static solver finds the static equilibrium state more reliably and accurately than RecurDyn V9R5.
- Supports static analysis of complex MFBD models that include contact between FFlex, rigid, and RFlex bodies.
- In development for more than 2 years
Benefits
- By calculating the initial equilibrium state of a model such as vehicle or excavator in advance, the simulation speed and accuracy can be improved.
- Total simulation time can be reduced by tuning a model through static analysis before dynamic analysis.
- When the effect of inertia is small, the behavior of the model can be quickly observed using quasi-static analysis.
- It is possible to investigate the system’s range of motion or the interference between bodies through static analysis.
FFlex Static
- Structural analysis of flexible bodies can confirm deformation and stress in a static state.
- Supports static analysis of an MFBD model considering not only self contact of FFlex body but also contact with other bodies.
- When a deformed shape of a flexible body is required, it can be obtained by using static analysis and extracting the results.
Various MFBD model examples using FFlex Static

× FunctionBay RecurDyn 2023 (BN10106) Close
Note
- For models containing only rigid bodies and RFlex bodies, static analysis is possible without additional licenses.
- For models with FFlex bodies, an additional license (FFlex Static) is required for static analysis.
. In RecurDyn 2023, FFlex Static is provided as a beta function (Rigid/RFlex static is an official feature).
. If you want to evaluate FFlex Static, Contact FunctionBay or a sales agent

Professional Enhancements

Geometry Update According to Hierarchy
- In the case of the geometry to which the hierarchy is applied, if the parametric value of the parent geometry is modified, the child geometry is also updated accordingly.
- If the shape of the curve is modified, the surface or solid is also updated.
- Shape optimization can be achieved through DOE, AutoDesign, etc. by defining the parametric value as a design variable.

Unit Changes in Model
- It is now possible to change the units of the model even after creating the model.
- The newly added Change Model Units function allows the user to freely change the model units such as Force, Mass, Length, and Time.

Endless Simulation
- It is now possible to determine whether to specify the Simulation End Time.
- If the End Time is not specified, the simulation continues until the user clicks the Stop button.

MFBD Enhancements

Two-way Thermal Fluid Co-simulation between FFlex Thermal and Particleworks
- It is now possible to use a bidirectional heat transfer function between the RecurDyn FFlex Body and the Particleworks Fluid particles.
- This feature predicts the cooling and heating of the body by the fluid and the corresponding expansion and contraction of the body structure.

× FunctionBay RecurDyn 2023 (BN10106) Close
FFlex Thermal Enhancements
- The newly-added Expression function, Temperature() provides the temperature of the user-specified Node.

Static Analysis of MFBD (FFlex Static)
- It is now possible to perform a static analysis of complex MFBD models that include contact between FFlex, rigid, and RFlex bodies.
- Since the static equilibrium state of the model, including the contact of the ㆍFFlex bodies, can also be obtained, the consistency of an MFBD model can be checked more quickly.
Mesher Enhancements
- The Primitive Mesh function creates an optimal mesh for primitive shapes such as Sphere, Box, or Cone.

Toolkit Enhancements

DriveTrain Enhancements
- The GearTrain creation method has been improved to enable the creation of a Ravigneaux gear that uses 2 sun gears and 1 carrier.
- It is now possible to create and simulate a Rack & Pinion and it can also be saved as a KISSsoft Z13 file.
- Contact Pressure, SV (Sliding Velocity), and PV (Pressure Velocity) can be checked using a contour.

RecurDyn is Integrated Multi-Discipline (IMD) Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software. Its primary purpose is Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics (MFBD), which is the prediction of the motion of mechanisms and devices composed of solid bodies, in which the bodies can be modeled as either rigid or flexible bodies. RecurDyn contains many components, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Optimization Design, Automatic Control, Fatigue Analysis, as well as rigid Multibody Dynamics. RecurDyn has superior calculation efficiency because it is based on a recursive formulation. Therefore, RecurDyn gives the best performance in large-scale multibody problems (systems with a large number of bodies), including mechanical systems in which complex contact between bodies is very significant. RecurDyn also features a natural, Windows-based User Interface which is intuitive and easy to use, as well as a custom application development environment which enables users to automate complicated and/or tedious tasks.
RecurDyn 2023 has significantly improved in terms of the performance of the N-R Static solver and the speed of contact analysis through continuous research and development for more than two years. The geometry update function according to the hierarchy has been added for DOE or optimization. It is now possible to use a bidirectional heat transfer function between the RecurDyn FFlex Body and the Particleworks Fluid particles. The Primitive Mesh function creates an optimal mesh for primitive shapes such as Spheres, Boxes, or Cones. In addition, the Endless Simulation function has been added. The improvements have been made to the DriveTrain Toolkit and the Analysis Result Recording.
