Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the insertion of fone disposable needles into specific points on the body to
promote healing. The Area of insertion and the number of needles used depends on the condition
being treated.
Acupuncture is not painful, but cam illicit specific sensations. The amount of stimulation used
is based on the sensitivity of the patient.
Traditional Acupunture
In Traditional Chinese acupuncture, the needles are placed in specific acupuncture points that
relate to the affectd area or organ system. There are over 360 acupuncture points on the body.
Orthopedic Acupuncture
In Orthopedic Acupuncture, the needles are inserted into muscle motor points. By stimulating the
motor points, the muscles are able to relax and alleviate muscle pain, and conditions caused by
muscle tension.
It is normal to have some soreness in the muscles after treatment. This usually resolves itself
within 24 to 48 hours.
