She Wrote) uses his impressive vocal talents to deliver a first-rate
narration, offering rich interpretations of the famous heroes and the
interesting supporting characters Thomson has created.
At first, the legendary investigators ponder whether to take the dangerous
case: Holmes looked at me with a quizzical smile. 'What do you say, Watson?
Are you game?' Without any hesitation, Dr Watson replies: If you are, Holmes.
And, with resounding momentum, the deal is sealed: Then the verdict is
unanimous. We accept! Thomson is perfectly in tune with the conventions of
the genre, and Jones's excellent command of language and dialect transports
us to Britain in the late 1800s for an intriguing episode of Holmesian
adventure. The Sounds Like Murder audio series bills itself as short stories
for short commutes. If you're a Holmes fan, you may find yourself in
the unlikely position of wishing your daily drive were just a little longer.
