Authority in Forcalquier, France: 36/III/P
Classic French organ with a rich history. Originally built in 1627 (the pipes are still in use), then repeatedly restored and enlarged by various organ masters, including by the famous Cavaillé-Coll in 1932. However, the overall sound of the instrument, despite some originality, is typical of the French baroque instruments. Principals have a soft close to the flute timbre, Grand Orgue and Recit contain conventional 5 and 3 ranked one of the cornet flute pipes, Positif contains a 2-foot Quarte de Nasard and Larigot - which section of the same cornet flute.
