Control Center allows you to quickly center the axes of objects
and also allows you to center objects in relation to other
objects or the current view. Control Center has five major
functions as follows:
Center in View
Using the Center in View command, the selected object will be
centered in the current view. You can select the distance from
camera by selecting Fixed distance to camera and setting the
distance value. If you leave this option unchecked then the
distance to camera will remain unchanged. This command is
especially useful for those times you're modeling far away
from the world center.
** The Control Center dialog is shown above docked just below the
coordinates window. Since you will use this command
frequently, and since it relates to object coordinates, this
is a good place to dock it. **
Object to Axis
Using the Object to Axis command, the currently selected
geometry will center at its axis. Therefore, if the axis of
the object lies outside the geometric center, the geometry
itself will move to wherever the axis is. You may center the
object's geometry based upon bounding box or average point.
Axis to Object
Using the Axis to Object command, the axis of the selected
object will center to object's center based upon bounding box
or average point. This is a very handy command for bringing
those wayward, wondering axes under control.
Center Parent at Child
Using the Center Parent at Child command, the parent will move
to wherever the selected child's axis lays. This is especially
useful for fixing a wayward parent's null center to the child.
You have the option to center position, rotation and scale.
You will use this command more than you think.
Center Child at Parent
Center Child at Parent places the selected child at the parent
center. You have the option to center any combination of the
child's position, rotation and scale to that of the parent. At
last!
In addition to the control center dialog, all commands have
icons that can easily be integrated into your daily workflow.
