users worldwide without preprocessing. Using a planetary viewing
environment, users everywhere can independently explore and analyze 3D

offers 3D visualization capabilities integrated with spatial and
attribute-based querying, editing tools, geocoding and state-of-the-art
dissemination capabilities. Leica Virtual Explorer is the new standard
in sharing GIS data.
Customization
With the release of Leica Virtual Explorer 3.1, the components of the
suite are open to varying levels of customization whether it be simply
localizing the user interfaces to a new language, embedding the Leica
Virtual Explorer viewer into other applications with ActiveX controls or
developing new applications, tools and GUI's.
Leica Virtual Explorer data sharing solutions The following components
of the Leica Virtual Explorer suite of products will enable users to
edit and share their GIS data with anyone in the world in a variety of
different ways:
* Leica Virtual Explorer Architect
Leica Virtual Explorer Architect is an advanced 3D visualization
program containing a comprehensive array of tools to construct and
explore realistic 3D scenes constructed from imagery, GIS layers,
terrain and other geospatial and geotypical data. Users may embed
animated objects and layers, event triggers and hyperlinks. Once a scene
is created it can be saved and uploaded onto the Leica Virtual Explorer
Server for web streaming or published for CD, DVD or other file-based
distribution media using the Leica Virtual Explorer DVD add-on. Leica
Virtual Explorer Architect can also be used as a stand-alone desktop 3D
visualization application if desired.
* Leica Virtual Explorer Client
Leica Virtual Explorer Client is a freely distributable
application allowing users to remotely explore 3D scenes, control layer
display, record favorite locations and annotate the scene. GIS attribute
information can be queried while collaboratively analyzing and chatting
to other users with Leica Virtual Explorer Collaboration.
* Leica Virtual Explorer Pro Client
Beyond simply exploring scenes, Leica Virtual Explorer Pro Client
empowers remote users to analyze realistic 3D environments with a full
analysis toolbox in addition to adding their own geospatial content to
the scene. Site analysis markups and custom GIS data meshed into the 3D
scene can be streamed to other users with Leica Virtual Explorer
Collaboration.
* Leica Virtual Explorer DVD
Leica Virtual Explorer DVD effortlessly converts rich 3D scenes
into an efficient, file-distributable format optimized for CD or DVD
dispersal. Simply choose the raster, terrain and texture compression
rates and the 3D scene is rendered to view with the Leica Virtual
Explorer Client and Pro Client. Leica Virtual Explorer DVD is an add-on
to Leica Virtual Explorer Architect.
* Leica Virtual Explorer Server
Leica Virtual Explorer Server quickly and efficiently streams rich
3D environments over private networks or the Internet to Leica Virtual
Explorer Clients or Pro Clients worldwide. Server administration tools
allow the full customization of client access and user privileges to
each scene.
* Leica Virtual Explorer Collaboration
Leica Virtual Explorer Collaboration allows users worldwide to
collaboratively explore, analyze and edit 3D scenes in a public or
private collaboration session. Users are able to view and a.attach
toa the camera positions of others, chat to fellow session
participants, collectively analyze and markup the 3D scene and share
custom GIS layers all within a secure virtual meeting place, making
presentation of spatial information to remote users easier and more
accessible. Leica Virtual Explorer Collaboration is an add-on to Leica
Virtual Explorer Server.
* Leica Virtual Explorer NITF
Leica Virtual Explorer NITF enables users to add accessible data
stored in the National Imagery Transmission Format to Leica Virtual
Explorer scenes natively without file conversion. Leica Virtual Explorer
NITF is available as an add-on module to Leica Virtual Explorer
Architect, Leica Virtual Explorer Server and Leica Virtual Explorer Pro
Client.
