TRONTO
Waveforms pink and white noise from 1972 synthesizer oscillators, recorded with 50 year old valve pre-amps to vintage tape. This instrument contains 9 different sets of samples - each spanning over 7 octaves (each set corresponding to the valve driven and tape saturated waveforms and noise generators - pre-filter). All notes seamlessly looped.

DCO
The word 'precision' is used for two reasons - firstly the digitally controlled oscillators of the original analogue synth maintain a very accurate tuning, and secondly because no tape was used in the recordings of these waveforms, which in turn keeps them very true and precise to the originals (allowing a less characterful and more 'scientific' synthesis to take place within Kontakt). This makes DCO the perfect companion for Tronto, as they contrast each other perfectly.

VCO
VCO features all of the waveforms from a 1972 minimoog with long natural cycles of up to 15 seconds before looping and also phase aligned at the start points of each sample. Like DCO, this was not sampled to tape. The aim was to achieve the closest possible replica of a classic hardware VCO synth within the DAW, so to keep the wave cycles in tact, only vintage tubes and a good convertor were used. A custom made tape and tube impulse response (as used in Tronto and DCO) plus Kontakt 5's tape saturation effect is used to bring in some richness and texture when needed.
