This deals with the optimal design of energy-intensive systems. It surveys recently developed methodologies that reveal the cost-effectiveness of energy-resource-saving ideas by design, and focuses on thermoeconomics. The work is the outcome of more than 20 years of development in thermoeconomics, and will be useful to students and those working in the field.
