When David and Sharon opened their New York yoga school in 1989, they chose to call it Jivamukti to reflect yoga's true goal: enlightenment. Literally, Jivamukti means liberation while living, and as taught by these two gifted yogis, this physically vigorous and intellectually stimulating style of yoga has transformed the lives of thousands of students. Now one of the nine internationally recognized styles of Hatha Yoga, Jivamukti can show you the way to optimum health, fitness, and joy.
In just an hour a day, this Jivamukti Yoga practice will help you create a new foundation for a happier, healthier life. The practice is fast and flowing, set to music played on traditional instruments. The instruction is thorough and inspirational. Once you make Jivamukti Yoga part of your life, you will look different to the world and the world will look different to you.

As yogis, (or wanna- be yogis) we must ask ourselves, “What is in our way, what is keeping us from the goal?” It won’t take long for the answer to begin to dawn: It is those Others. All of the others in our life seem to be in our way, keeping us from happiness keeping us from ultimate liberation. [...] If we wish to free ourselves from identifying exploitive relationship where there are winners and losers, then all of our actions should address how to best resolve our problems with the others who appear in our lives. We must learn to see Ourselves in the Other. This means seeing or perceiving that the very existence of the ‘other’ in your life is coming from you. So naturally you are going to be kind to them because your own happiness and freedom is totally dependent on it. To see Ourselves in others so deeply that Otherness disappears, and when Otherness disappears, what remains is Love, and Love will bring you to the realization of the Oneness of being.
