Computer simulations are now standard tools in the study of physical processes. Moreover, computational studies, viewed as controlled experiments, have always been extremely useful. Recent advances in computer technology have trig- gered the use of various techniques which involve intricate applications of the knowledge of the concerned physical phenomena in large scale computations. These techniques are particularly useful in statistical physics where a typical problem involves a large number of particles with long range correlations and complicated dynamics.
