Mikonosuke Kawaishi made a huge contribution to the development of judo in Belgium and France, starting activities in the pre-war years. The teacher of Kawaii was the master of Kurihara from Butoku-kai, who competed with the famous Kodokan. Nevertheless, with regard to the methods of self-defense of both schools, all of them were basically juju-jutsu, actively using percussion techniques. Author of many books on the sporting field and kat judo, in 1952, Kawaiisi published the book "My method of self-defense" in French. Reissued in 1957 in English and is offered in this release. The first part of the book was later copied many times without the author's instructions (see below). The first part describes the methods of self-defense against all kinds of seizures, unarmed and armed attacks with the predominant use of judo combat techniques. The second part of the book is fully devoted to "atemi" - punches, fists, elbows-knees, foot and head. The material is complemented by emotionally executed detailed drawings.
