What's new in RAD Studio 11
RAD Studio 11 Alexandria introduces a number of important new features and enhancements that improve the user experience of the IDE and boost developer productivity, including support for high-DPI 4k+ screens, new Windows features in the VCL along with design-time preview of VCL styles, a new welcome page, a C++ formatter and enhanced cross-language support between Delphi and C++, enhanced FMX designers, a macOS ARM64 native compiler for Delphi, and Edge browser support for FMX on Windows.
mportantly, RAD Studio Delphi apps can already be provisioned for Windows 11. The good news is RAD Studio can package your apps as MSIX bundles so it’s full steam ahead for us RAD Studio users.
In the runup to the RAD Studio 11 release, the beta version has been well received. Developers using RAD Studio 11 can use VCL Styles at design time, seeing in real time how styles will impact the UI and designing forms even faster.
Support for the Newest Technologies
Delphi users can compile natively for both existing Intel and the new M-series macOS ARM processors (Apple Silicon). Compatibility and support also extend to Android API level 30 and latest Billing APIs.
Another important new feature of RAD Studio 11 is support for high-DPI screens, enabling developers to use the IDE on high-DPI and 4k monitors. “Now the RAD Studio 11 IDE looks as good as the applications it builds with full high-DPI support.”
Support for Remote Desktop
RAD Studio 11 Alexandria also comes with enhanced remote desktop support, facilitating collaboration and efficient product development for remote teams. RAD Studio 11 has also undergone quality updates in key areas that involve fixes for over 650 of the most commonly reported issues and over 110 new features requested by customers on the Quality Portal.

Moving to Version 11 A few years back, Embarcadero decided to match the version number of the two primary desktop operating systems we target (Windows 10 and OS X, later renamed macOS 10) with a series of RAD Studio 10.x releases: 10 “Seattle”, 10.1 “Berlin”, 10.2 “Tokyo”, 10.3 “Rio”, and 10.4 “Sydney”.
In light of the recent changes in macOS versioning (currently at version 11) and Microsoft’s recent announcement of a coming Windows 11 version, we have decided to change our product numbering scheme accordingly. Windows, in particular, remains a key target for us, with the best library to build Windows client UI applications, our own VCL and we want to underline this strong connection.
Therefore, the next major release of RAD Studio, Delphi and C++ Builder, originally expected to be 10.5, is going to be version 11. We expect it to be followed by minor updates with version numbers like 11.x and a future new major release called 12.
RAD Studio 11 will build on the great features introduced in RAD Studio 10.4 series and will add new features and enhancements throughout the product, with particular focus to the Integrated Development Environment (or IDE), that is, the RAD Studio application itself.

RAD Studio requires at least:
- 1.8 GHz or faster dual-core processor. Quad-core or better recommended. Single-core is not supported.
- 3 GB of RAM. 8GB of RAM recommended.
- Between 6 GB and 60 GB of available disk space. Using a solid state drive (SSD)is strongly recommended.
- DirectX 11 capable video card that runs at 1440x900; a 1080 vertical resolution screen is recommended.

Tip: You can also install RAD Studio on a virtual machine running one of the supported versions of Windows in a non-Windows environment (e.g., macOS). To develop FireMonkey projects, your virtualization software must provide direct access to the host GPU.
Your Windows system must be configured as follows:
- The user that installs RAD Studio must be the system administrator or be on the administrator privileges list.
- The length of your PATH environment variable must be 1830 characters or less.
- The installation of RAD Studio adds up to 218 characters to your PATH environment variable. If the length of your PATH environment variable goes beyond 2048 characters, your system will misbehave.
Note: 32-bit versions of Windows are no longer supported as operating systems for installing RAD Studio 10.4 Alexandria.
