This course is designed to help players improve their opening play in a way that is rarely presented in the books. By going through positions featuring typical ideas it develops and understanding of typical Colle positions. With better PATTERN RECOGNITION players start to get a feel for where their pieces belong in the opening and what they should be trying to do. There are 25 lessons in total, most of which feature positions typical of the Colle-Zukertort (1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 e6 3.e3 or 1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 followed by the plan of a Queenside fianchetto. This is on the way that the Colle is played by modern Grandmasters such as Yusupov, Kurajica, Drasko and Bareev. The lessons contain a variety of tactical, strategic and attacking motifs and are of varying degrees of difficulty. Most players should be able to find the move in the easier positions but even these contain important insights as to how the Colle should be played. The more difficult positions should be a challenge for anyone, providing a training ground for a player's game as a whole and not just Colle positions. Thus I hope this course will offer something for everybody.
